Economic statistical design for x-bar control charts under non-normal distributed data with Weibull in-control time

چکیده
This paper proposes an approach which simultaneously considers the properties of cost and quality based on the Burr distribution to determine three parameters (including sample size, sampling interval between successive samples, and the control limits) when an x-bar chart monitors a manufacturing process with Weibull failure characteristic and non-normal data. Also, the cost model of Banerjee and Rahim (1988) is used as the objective function, and the probability density function of the Burr distribution is applied to derive the statistical constraints of economic statistical design of the x-bar control charts for non-normal data. The example of Banerjee and Rahim (1988) is adopted to indicate the solution procedure and sensitivity analyses. Meanwhile, the design parameters of the x-bar control charts can be obtained through the grid search method. The results show that an increase of skewness coefficient ( 3) results in a slight decrease for sample size (n), but is robust to the control limit width (L). Also, an increase of kurtosis coefficient ( 4) leads to a wider control limit width. Bi-objective Economic statistical design of the joint Xbar and S charts incorporating Taguchi loss function
In this research, we propose a bi-objective model for the economic-statistical design of the X-bar and S control charts. The model minimizes out-of-control average time to signal as well as minimizing mean hourly loss-cost where it incorporates the Taguchi loss function. Statistical constraint is considered in the model to achieve desired in-control time to signal. A non-dominated sort...
متن کاملA Parameter-Tuned Genetic Algorithm for Economic-Statistical Design of Variable Sampling Interval X-Bar Control Charts for Non-Normal Correlated Samples
Among innovations and improvements occurred in the past two decades on the techniques and tools used for statistical process control (SPC), adaptive control charts have shown to substantially improve the statistical and/or economical performances. Variable sampling intervals (VSI) control charts are one of the most applied types of the adaptive control charts and have shown to be faster than tr...
متن کاملEconomic Design of Variable Sampling Interval X-Bar Control Charts for Monitoring Correlated Non-Normal Samples
Recent studies have shown the X-bar control chart with variable sampling interval detects shifts in the process mean faster than the traditional X-bar chart. These studies are usually based on the assumption that the process data are independently and normally distributed. However, many situations in practice violate these assumptions. In this study, a methodology is developed to economically ...
متن کاملBias and Unbias Comparison between Economic Statistical Design T2-VSI and T2-FRS Control Charts
The Hotelling's control chart, is the most widely used multivariate procedure for monitoring two or more related quality characteristics, but it’s power lacks the desired performance in detecting small to moderate shifts. Recently, the variable sampling intervals (VSI) control scheme in which the length of successive sampling intervals is determined upon the preceding values has been proved t...
متن کاملAn economic-statistical model for production and maintenance planning under adaptive non-central chi-square control chart
Most of the inventory control models assume that quality defect never happens, which means production process is perfect. However, in real manufacturing processes, the production process starts its operation in the in-control state; but after a period of time, shifts to the out-of-control state because of occurrence of some disturbances. In this paper, in order to approach the model to real man...
